  • Tanzania!!

Hello again! So, ok, I haven't used this really at all since I set it up but I have a little time on my hands so i thought I would give it another go. I received my PC assignment and it is Health Education in Tanzania Africa!!! I will be having orientation on June 14/15 and training to begin on June 16 in Tanzania. Just putting the feelers out there for anyone who might be going with me or is currently in country. I can't really describe how bittersweet the feeling is of finally accepting my assignment. It feels so good but the reality is starting to set in for my family and I. I'm sure many share these feelings and I would love to hear about it. Peace and Love, Tyler.

  • Let's get this Peace Corps blog party started

I might as well get a little more out than what is on that first post since I just started this funky adventure called blogging. My plan with this is to tell a bit of my story and try to connect with other Peace Corps volunteers/applicants/returned volunteers, as well as any other groovy humans that are out there.

I submitted my application for PC in January of 2009. After a lot of paperwork, medical examinations, and waiting, I am now, well.......waiting some more. I'm nominated for a Health Extension in Africa leaving in June of 2010. You might be thinking, "Africa is quite a large mass of land, people, plants, animals, etc,....where on this second largest continent would you be going?" The answer is, "if you find out please tell me."

I'm not going to turn to negative town and belly ache about how challenging it is to be waiting with all this uncertainty. I feel extremely lucky to even be considered for this privilege. I'm in a great spot with wonderful family support and could not ask for anything more. As for now I will continue to volunteer, keep the pressure on the medical office, and count on that invitation come May.

  • Hi everyone! I'm just getting started on Xanga... Drop me a comment if you've got some ideas on what to do first - or just to say, "Hi!"

This is my first blog ever! Creating it to journal my lead up to and hopefully eventual journey in the Peace Corps. Any advice would be great. Thanks!
